A two-piece timber sleeping platform that stows compactly into your van and pulls out into a full bed. Built to last, sized to fit, and finished by hand. $1,200 standard build.
Order one — $1,200The Hoppin Habitats comb bed is a custom-built pull-out sleeping platform for campervans. Two timber boxes sit side by side along the back of the van — taking up about a metre of floor space when stowed — and pull out together to form a full sleeping platform with a slat base, ready for your mattress.
It's a clean answer to the eternal van trade-off: you want a real bed at night, but you want your floor back during the day. The comb bed gives you both, without the rattles and weak spots of a fold-out frame.
15mm structural plywood, hand-finished timber, drawer slides chosen to hold up to corrugations. The same materials and joinery we use in our full custom fitouts — built to live in, not just to look at.
Two timber boxes sit side by side when stowed (~1m long each). Pulled out together they make a ~2m sleeping platform with slats. Stows clean, deploys quick.
Each one is built in our Tingalpa workshop after you order. Standard sizing fits Hiace and similar mid-size vans. Send us your interior dimensions if you want a custom fit.

The standard build comes in a natural-timber finish (the shots above). We also do a clean white-painted finish — bright, low-glare and easy to keep clean. Same construction, same hardware, same pull-out function. Here's one installed in a Sprinter and a few standalone shots showing the layout, storage hatches and lounge mode.

Once you've locked in the order, we build yours in our Tingalpa workshop. Roughly a two-week lead time from order to ready — sometimes faster if the workshop's quiet.
Collect from our Tingalpa workshop, about ten minutes from Brisbane Airport. We'll show you how it installs and pulls out before you head off.
